Martin’s Dream
Today in the United States, we celebrate Martin Luther King’s Birthday. Earlier this morning I took out A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I have a dream … that one day little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
This quote is personal for me because our family is a manifestation of Martin Luther King’s dream — my family consists of White, Filipino, and Black. I’m grateful for Martin and for him leading the Civil Rights struggle.
