I’ve needed to unclutter my life of non-essential things, interest, and activities: I need to simplify my life. So, yesterday and today, I decided to do two things. First, I unsubscribed from 36 blogs; and second, I decided to break linkedin connections of strangers I don’t know.
Unsubscribing from blogs was gratifying. My criteria was simple: If the blog doesn’t produce content that I find original, interesting or helpful, then I unscubscribed. Also, I’m not interested in blogs with a mean tone or a rough blog persona.
My linkedin network is full of strangers or people I would rather not be connected with. Today, I decided to clean up my linkedin connections. I took a pass at my linkedin network several months ago, but there’s still much I can do. I took a pass at it today and broke 49 connections.
This is just a start at simplifying my life. I also want to excercise more and go to bed earlier. I’ll be doing much planning this week, for sure.

I like it. I’ve been going through the same exercise and its been very liberating.
Good for you! Too often people want to be ‘linked in” just to do it because they think it makes them look more connected than they are. It is kinda reminding me of myspace.com now.
I feel special now that I have made the cut. Then again, I have 600+ connections on linkedin and you are one of about 10 people I have not met face-to-face on the list.
@Chris,
That’s why we need to go out to lunch — it’s on me.

I like the whole idea of simplification. How is it that we all get so busy? It’s personal feature creep.
We still need to get to lunch too.
