Barack Obama, Super Delegates, and Set Theory

About 10 years ago, I wrote a paper axiomatizing Majority Rule, using the Truth-Functional Logic and Set Theory; I explain the concepts of Social Choice Function, Majority Rule, Voter Equality, Sensitivity, and Option Equality. Today, I republish it here, and explain its application to the Democratic ticket between Barack Obama and HIlary Clinton and explain the Super Delegate concept and how the notion of Super Delegates are, in fact, Anti-Majority Rule because it violates the principle of Voter Equality.

Filibuster, Defense Authorization Bill, & Majority Rule
The Republicans held a filibuster the other night to block the Reid-Levin Amendment from a vote. The aim of this article is to axiomatically show, using Proof Theory, how Majority Rule works and, that, the mathematics behind Majority Rule is in fact the easy part; the really, really difficult part are the social and game theory-like games that we play with each other, as the recent filibuster demonstrates.

The Presidential Election and The Majority Rule System
I first heard of Barrack Obama while I was a student at Chicago. Even then, he had already made a name for himself — and I wasn’t even at the Law School, where he was a professor. He was known for his charisma and his ideas on the American Dream had much support. Given the current presidential candidates, I can comfortably say I don’t know whom I’ll support yet; but, I clearly know who I will not — Senator Hillary Clinton will not get my support.
