abc lost, free content
i’m a fan of the tv show lost. i was stoked to hear that abc is testing free online distribution of the tv show lost as well as other abc shows such as commander in chief, desperate housewives, and alias. the shows will be streamed on abc.com the day after they’re shown on tv. previously, abc had been selling episodes of lost and desperate housewives on itunes for $1.99.

yahoo! open shortcuts
i’ve been playing around with yahoo! open shortcuts. it’s pretty cool. yahoo! is allowing users to create custom query shortcuts. i’ve created several already. i’m glad to see yahoo! taking this initiative. check it out.

university of texas at austin hacked
university of texas at austin got hacked. i received an email today from the school indicating that the business school was hacked. ut austin was one of the schools i considered for graduate school. i never applied there, but for some reason i got on their email list. ut austin is top-notch in computer science. perhaps this incident will beef-up their focus on security.

findory works well
i’ve been using findory for some time now. i’m really impressed with it. it may be the first learning application that truly works –
i wrote about personalization a while ago. this one actually works.

tinyurl or snipurl: which is shorter?
i’m writing this in w.bloggar — i’ve not used this desktop blogging tool before, so i hope it works. . .
i conducted a completely non-scientific test here. i simply wanted to know, given two popular url-snippers, which one returned a shorter url. the real question, is this: is url-snipping good for the web. i’ll discuss that question after we find out who is shorter.
